Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)

Primary POC – Division Director
 (858) 577-1087

Program Overview

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a subset of the synthetic organic chemicals known as chlorinated hydrocarbons. PCBs are known to cause chronic reproductive effects, gastric disorders, and skin lesions in laboratory animals. Although Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest Division owns, operates, and maintains the electrical distribution system throughout the installation, the PCB Program oversees the management of “in-use” PCB transformers, switches, and oil fuse cutouts (OFC) equipment and the accumulation, storage, and disposal of PCB related equipment and/or waste.
