Unauthorized Release

Program Overview

When an unauthorized release of a petroleum product or hazardous substance occurs, it must be determined if the release is recordable or reportable. If recordable, the release information is recorded in the spill log and kept on-site.  If the release is reportable, the release information is reported to the appropriate agencies.  If the release has occurred to the environment (soil and/or water), then the local oversight agency, usually the San Diego Department of Environmental Health, will assign a release number to the incident and will direct corrective action to be taken.  The Unauthorized Release Record illustrates the history of unauthorized releases here at MCAS Miramar and the status of each.
